The website serves as a central platform that facilitates the sending and recording of payment reports:

• Where to send: Payroll systems retrieve basic information about where to send contributions and other prerequisites.
• Technical specification: Current technical specifications for communication between payroll systems and collector web services.
• Development and collaboration: The Icelandic Pension Fund Association operates skilagrein.is and develops technical specifications in collaboration with stakeholders in this field.

How do payment reports work?

1. Payroll systems regularly retrieve information from the open web service to keep their configuration up to date. This ensures the payroll system knows where to direct communication.
2. The payroll system connects to each collector's standardized well-known endpoint to retrieve collector-specific configuration and endpoint information for payment reports and validation if that service is offered.
3. The payroll system can send a test message and the collector responds without recording entitlements. This optional service is intended to minimize errors in submissions.
4. The payroll system submits a payment report and the collector returns a response specifying errors or confirming receipt. The collector then records the employee's entitlements in their systems against the relevant funds.
